Supervision SERVICES
What is Safeguarding Supervision?
Safeguarding supervision is an opportunity for support, challenge and learning around safeguarding cases. It’s essential that DSLs and DDSLs are effectively supported and developed with their work. Supervision ensures that this work with children and young people is effective and follows procedures. It's a 2-way process and helps staff manage the complex feelings that often arise when managing a safeguarding caseload.
What is Leadership Supervision
Leadership Supervision focuses on your role as a Senior Leader in school. It provides a space to voice any concerns and discuss them in a safe space as part of professional development. It provides the opportunity to think, reflect and talk things through as well as supporting your emotional wellbeing. This is particularly important for Headteachers.
How regular should supervision be?
Supervision should be regular. At IFPD, we recommend half-termly one-to-one for Senior leaders, DSLs, and any DDSLs with high numbers of cases. For DDSLs, we recommend termly either one-to-one or group sessions.
IFPD Supervision for your staff
IFPD offer both one-to-one and group supervision by our trained Safeguarding Supervisor, Victoria Morris. Victoria trained with the NSPCC and is DBS checked.
Supervision sessions are 1 hour for one-to-one and 1.5 hours for groups. Each session will follow a cycle working through a case or issue the supervisee has brought to the session. Sessions will be followed up with notes and agreed action, shared within a week of the session.
Sessions will usually be online.
