Levels in Safeguarding Training
We often get enquiries regarding what 'Levels' of Safeguarding and Child Protection Training we provide.
Levels were removed from safeguarding training in education quite some time ago. They simply don't exist, though many training bodies persist in causing confusion by referring to them. Instead you seek the training that suits your role. For example:
🔸 Teacher, TA or other support staff in regular contact with children- Our General Child Protection Training is what you need (delivered live online to individuals or in person for large groups in your setting)
🔸 DSLs- Our DSL initial, refresher or specific course is what you need, some delivered online, some in person
KCSiE makes no mention of training levels. Instead, it says:
For DSLs
The designated safeguarding lead (and any deputies) should undergo training to provide them with the knowledge and skills required to carry out the role. This training should be updated at least every two years.
For other staff:
All staff should receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection training (including online safety... The training should be regularly updated.So, don't be worried or confused when you see mention of levels in Education Safeguarding Training- it's a hangover from a byegone age.
